Eligibility criteria: Must become a housing counseling client of our organization. Prospective clients can visit https://bienestar-or.org/housing-counseling/, or email us at home@bienestar-or.org for information on how to sign up for services. Once they become clients, they must have an initial counseling session with a housing counselor in order to assess their financial situation (including budget) and mortgage readiness. Individuals are limited to two IDAs in their lifetime.
Application process: The first step is to become a client by enrolling in 1-on-1 counseling. Once the client has an initial session with a housing counselor to evaluate their finances, budget, and mortgage readiness, the client will be placed on an interest list/waitlist for the IDA program. Once the enrollment window opens and funds become available, the assigned counselor will meet with the client again to assess eligibility for the program. Due to limited funding for the program, we may not be able to enroll all who are interested, but maintain an active waitlist as funding becomes available. There is a $25 application fee.
Average number of IDAs opened each year, in the 3 most recent years: 5 or fewer
Maximum match per asset: $12,000
